The Sweetest Thing

Go with me here...I'm in Amarillo, an hour and a half away from my 2 precious babies, in a very important meeting, and I get a phone call from Brother K's school teacher. I immediately think the worse and begin to panic because Trevor is on his way to San Antonio and I'm so far away.

"Mrs. LuAnn, is everything ok?" She says, "Oh sweetie I'm so sorry I made you worry (she is the most precious thing on this earth). I just had to call and tell you the sweetest thing before I forgot. Today I was teaching the kids the letter "O". I told them "oxygen" started with "O" and then K asked what oxygen was. So I explained to him that it's in the blood in our body and helps us breathe, etc. Well he then says but the blood comes from the heart so does the oxygen? No you're right K the blood is in your heart. So K replies with, "Jesus lives there too.""

The things we teach our children do actually stick, believe it or not. It truly blessed me because we're always asking K where Jesus lives and he says, "In my heart." I want him to know that Jesus hasn't left him. He is with him at all times: the scary, the happy, the sad, the confused, and even the fit throwing times. I just loved how he knew it even out of context.

Another memory to cherish...

We're Accepted!!

Saturday, August 20 we received our acceptance letter from Little Miracles with a huge packet of paperwork. Trevor and I spent 3 hours filling out the paperwork about everything you could possibly think of. Then I spent an hour making copies of our marriage certificate (which I realized says we were married on March 14 when it should say March 4...whoops :-)), birth certificates for everyone in the family, social security cards for us all, vaccinations for the children, employment verification, a layout of our house, etc. I can honestly see why people give up right here. Not only was the paperwork tedious but then the initial check to Little Miracles wasn't small. This is why when one begins the adoption journey, it is so important for you to remember who it's ALL about. It's not about you or your hubby or your kids, although you will greatly benefit from it, but it's about Our Heavenly Father and taking care of HIS little orphan. It is ALL worth it!!!! We now send in the packet and then Little Miracles will begin our home study! Super excited to get it rolling...

Prayer Puzzle

We completely believe in the power of prayer. He has heard our cry in so many areas of our life. The power of prayer should not be underestimated. James 5:16-18 declares, "…The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops." God most definitely listens to prayers, answers prayers, and moves in response to prayers.

We want you to join us in praying for our journey. Please begin praying for little Kohen. Pray for health, healing and safety. When those who hold him in their arms, may he feel our touch, warmth and love. Ask God to let little Kohen know that we will not leave him as an orphan. That we ARE coming to him. Pray for grace and mercy. Pray for the adjustment phase of it all. For Keldon and Karsyn, for the grandparents and aunts and uncles to have an easy adjustment. Our prayer is when they see him for the first time, they are overfilled with complete love with no boundries. Begin praying for our travel there. That the Lord works it all perfectly. Pray for the paperwork process. No mess ups and let it all go smoothly. Pray for those who read our story to be moved to take action. May it touch a person's life and may they see Jesus through it. And praise Him for answered prayers. Thank Him for hearing our cry and the cry of little Kohen.

If you commit to pray for us let us know by commenting to this post or sending us an email. We have purchased this puzzle titled Got Lemons? Make Lemonade. We will put your name on the back of a puzzle piece. We will then glue it together and hang it in a double sided frame. When Kohen gets older, he will see the back of the puzzle and know ALL of the people who were praying for him and who "knew him before he was in the womb" Jeremiah 1:5. Thank you for being a "piece" of this life-changing journey!

What This Is

Since Trevor and I haven't entered the 21st century and joined all of the other trillion users on facebook (Microsoft has obviously not joined the 21st century either because spell check said it was spelt wrong ;-)), we thought we could create a blog!!!!

We wanted all of our friends and family to be able to keep up with our journey and share in this experience with us. What this blog is:
  • A place for you to follow our journey to get our +1
  • A journal of the cute things my kiddos do
  • A piece about our family...the good and the bad
  • A place for us to find encouragement from friends and family to "spur us on"
  • An encouragement for other believers
  • An encouragement to "spur others on" to adopt. Adoption is a scary thing. We want people to be able to read our story and know we're there for them every step of the way.
  • An opportunity for you to be a part of our child's life by giving and praying for specific needs
Thank you for being there for us. We are so excited to see the plan's God has for us. If you would like to be informed of new posts, please subscribe on the right hand side of the page at the very top. We love you guys and are so appreciative and humbled by your continued love and support.
